The Creator
Joshua Deuermeyer
Through The Lens Media is led by Joshua "Dewey" Deuermeyer—an Air Force veteran, professional photographer, videographer, and FAA Part 107 certified drone pilot.
My approach to visual storytelling was forged by two powerful chapters: a 21-year career in the U.S. Air Force and nearly a decade behind the lens capturing high-action narratives, documentary journalism, and deeply human moments. That combination delivers one clear advantage—your project will be executed with precision and adaptability, regardless of location, conditions, or complexity.
I specialize in portraits, lifestyle imagery, and engagement sessions that feel alive and authentic. I focus on movement, energy, and genuine connection, creating images that look like you—clean, intentional, and refreshingly original instead of templated or overly posed.
The same commitment to authenticity powers Why I—my ongoing documentary series exploring identity, inspiration, and what drives people to push beyond their limits. Hi, I’m Michelle Gornichec—a runner, a reader, and the kind of weirdo who happily wakes up before sunrise just to capture good light with my camera.
I picked up my first “real” camera more than 30 years ago, and we’ve both changed a lot since then. From developing film in the darkroom to embracing the digital age, photography has been my constant companion through every stage of life, and I’ve loved growing right alongside it.
Over the years, I’ve photographed weddings, families, engagements, wild landscapes, and all kinds of adventures. I’ve also had the privilege of teaching photography classes and mentoring photographers as they discovered their own creative voices—one of the most rewarding parts of this journey. These experiences have taught me that great photography is about seeing people, connecting with them, and knowing when to simply let a moment unfold.
These days, you’ll usually find me outside, chasing beautiful light, stunning landscapes, and the kind of moments that can’t be posed. Whether we’re hiking to an overlook, wandering a quiet trail, or laughing through unpredictable weather, my goal is always the same: to create photographs that feel authentic, joyful, and unmistakably you.
Life is messy, wild, and wonderfully imperfect. Those are the moments worth remembering—and the ones I love to photograph.
