Privacy Policy

Effective Date: June 25, 2026  ·  Last Updated: June 25, 2026

1. Overview

Through The Lens Media ("TTLM," "we," "us," or "our") provides photography and videography services. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you visit throughthelens.media and its subpages (the "Site"), submit a booking inquiry, or otherwise interact with us online.

By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or submit your information to us.

2. Information We Collect

Information you give us directly

When you submit our booking/contact form, we collect:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Session/shoot type and preferred date
  • Location
  • Any message or details you choose to share
  • Whether you opted in to receive occasional marketing emails

Information collected automatically

When you browse the Site, we and our third-party tools (described in Section 5) may automatically collect:

  • IP address (stored by us only as a one-way SHA-256 hash — we do not store your raw IP address)
  • Approximate country/location derived from network information
  • Browser type and device/user-agent information
  • Pages viewed, links clicked, and on-site actions (e.g. gallery clicks, video plays, form starts)
  • Referring website or ad campaign that brought you to the Site

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To respond to your booking inquiry and coordinate a photography/videography session
  • To send transactional emails (booking confirmations, follow-ups) and, only if you opted in, occasional marketing emails about availability and projects
  • To contact you by phone or text about a session you inquired about
  • To measure site performance, traffic sources, and which pages/ads lead to bookings
  • To detect and prevent spam, bot traffic, and fraudulent form submissions
  • To maintain business records (e.g. for accounting, scheduling, and client gallery delivery)

4. Who We Share Information With

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the following categories of service providers, each acting on our behalf to operate the Site and fulfill your request:

  • Cloudflare — hosting, bot/security protection (Turnstile), and our analytics database (D1)
  • Resend — sends transactional and opted-in marketing emails on our behalf
  • Google (Google Tag Manager, Analytics, Ads) — site analytics and ad campaign performance measurement
  • Meta (Facebook/Instagram Pixel) — ad campaign performance measurement on Meta platforms
  • Lumière Ledger (lumiereledger.com) — an affiliated photographer-business tool operated by the same owner; new lead submissions are synced there in real time so bookings can be tracked alongside other client/business data
  • Google Sheets / Google Apps Script — an optional backup sync of lead data for our own internal recordkeeping

We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of TTLM, our clients, or others.

5. Cookies, Pixels & Advertising

Our own first-party event-tracking system (which records page views and form interactions to our Cloudflare D1 database) does not use cookies and stores only a hashed version of your IP address.

However, the following third-party tools embedded on the Site do use cookies, pixels, or similar tracking technology:

  • Google Tag Manager / Google Analytics (GA4) — sets cookies to measure traffic and on-site behavior
  • Google Ads — sets cookies/conversion tags to measure ad performance and enable remarketing
  • Meta Pixel — sets cookies to measure ad performance on Facebook/Instagram and enable remarketing
  • Cloudflare Turnstile — may use device signals to verify you are not a bot, without traditional tracking cookies

These tools may be considered "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under some state laws (see Section 8 below for your opt-out rights). You can also control cookies generally through your browser settings, and opt out of Google's and Meta's ad personalization directly through Google Ads Settings and Meta Ad Preferences.

6. Data Retention & Security

We retain booking/lead information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill your request, maintain business records, and comply with legal and tax obligations. Analytics event data with a hashed IP is retained in our Cloudflare D1 database for internal performance review.

We use industry-standard safeguards (encrypted connections, access-controlled admin tools, and hashed/salted identifiers) to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right to know/access — what personal information we have collected about you
  • Right to delete — request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions
  • Right to correct — request correction of inaccurate personal information
  • Right to opt out — of having your information used for targeted advertising or "sold/shared" as those terms are defined under applicable state law
  • Right to non-discrimination — we will not deny you services or charge you a different price for exercising your privacy rights

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in Section 13. We will verify your request and respond within the time required by applicable law.

8. California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), gives you the rights described in Section 7, plus:

  • The right to know the categories of personal information collected, the purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties with whom it is shared (see Sections 2 and 4 above)
  • The right to opt out of the "sharing" of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because we use Google Ads and Meta Pixel as described in Section 5, this may constitute "sharing" under the CPRA. You can opt out by emailing us (Section 13) or by using your browser's Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, which we honor as an opt-out request where technically supported.
  • The right to limit use of "sensitive personal information" — we do not collect sensitive personal information (e.g. precise geolocation, government ID numbers, or health data) through this Site

We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. In the preceding 12 months, we have not knowingly collected, sold, or shared the personal information of minors under 16.

9. Other State Privacy Rights

A number of other states have enacted comprehensive consumer privacy laws that provide rights similar to those described in Section 7 — generally the right to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of targeted advertising or the sale of personal information — including (without limitation) Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Utah (UCPA), Texas (TDPSA), Oregon (OCPA), Montana (MTCDPA), Iowa (ICDPA), Delaware (DPDPA), New Jersey, Tennessee (TIPA), Minnesota (MCDPA), Maryland (MODPA), and other states with similar laws in effect or coming into effect. If you reside in one of these states, you may exercise the applicable rights under your state's law by contacting us using the information in Section 13. We will honor verifiable requests consistent with the law of your state of residence.

This section is provided as a general summary and does not list every right or exception under every state law. If a specific state law provides you with a right not otherwise described in this policy, that right is preserved and we will honor it upon a verifiable request.

10. Children's Privacy

This Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

11. Email, Text & Call Communications

By submitting the booking form, you consent to receive transactional communications related to your inquiry (e.g. follow-up emails, calls, or texts about your session) at the email/phone number you provide. If you also checked the optional box to receive marketing emails about shoots, projects, and availability, you may unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in those emails or by contacting us directly. Message and data rates may apply to text messages; standard carrier terms apply.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be reflected here; we encourage you to review this page periodically.
